Description
Engine 17 by Roberta Byram. Imagine my surprise as I am driving a back road in North Carolina and come upon the New Hope Valley Railway. I stopped and got a tour of trains from 1910-1951. They collect old trains and repair them to running order. The group bought land, laid eight miles of track, and gives train rides every weekend. I was amazed that I was encouraged to climb up into the trains and really see history. From a US Postal car to the engines, I could not take it all in because it was so amazing. The North Carolina Museum, Inc. includes the East Carolina Chapter, NRHS and New Hope Valley Railway Located in Bonsal, North Carolina. The train master at the Yard Office is happy to give more information at 919-362-5416.Digitally enhanced photo.
